Sale of Malaysia-Singapore VTL tickets resumes today
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has resumed the sale of flight and bus tickets for the vaccinated travel lane (VTL) with Singapore starting today (Jan 21).
This, after the VTL was suspended from Dec 23 to Jan 20 (yesterday), after the Republic identified a Covid-19 cluster due to local transmissions on Dec 20.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, however, said the quota for bus and flight tickets have been reduced to 50 per cent of the capacity.
"For passengers who have purchased tickets for travel dates after Jan 20, before the announcement was made, they are allowed to continue their journey using the VTL initiative according to the quota set earlier," he said in a statement today.
Khairy said the decision to resume the ticket sales for the VTL initiative was made following the result of a risk assessment that was carried out based on the current Covid-19 situations in both countries.
He added any increase in ticket sales quota will depend on the risk assessment that will be conducted by the ministry based on the current Covid-19 situation in both countries.
