SINGAPORE: Prolonged heavy rain over many areas of Singapore on Sunday (Feb 27) afternoon sparked flash floods in several areas.

Flash floods occurred at the junction of Ubi Avenue 3 and Eunos Link, as well as the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) slip road entrance and exit at Bedok North Avenue 3 at about 2pm.

National water agency PUB said in a statement that its Quick Response Teams were deployed at the locations alongside Traffic Police to render assistance to motorists and direct traffic.

Flash floods at both locations subsided at around 2.25pm, it added.

PUB also said the heaviest rainfall recorded in eastern Singapore was 141.8mm at Kim Chuan Road rainfall station from 11.35am to 2.55pm.

"This corresponds to 135 per cent of Singapore’s average monthly rainfall in February and lies within the top 0.6 per cent of maximum daily rainfall records since 1981."

Earlier on Sunday, flood risk warnings were also issued at Bedok Canal, Jalan Nipah, Bedok Road, Bedok Garden and Jalan Chempaka Kuning.
