F1 LIVE: Lewis Hamilton closes in on Max Verstappen for title after Qatar Grand Prix win -- full analysis and standings
Lewis Hamilton was able to capture the Qatar Grand Prix, the third to last event on the calendar, and the race to be the overall champion has tightened considerably. Max Verstappen went into this one with a 14-point lead on Hamilton, but that's essentially cut in half with just two races left. In short, it's all about Verstappen and Hamilton, both light years ahead of the rest of the pack in the overall points race, and both now have a clear path to a crown if either stumbles. Verstappen is at 351.5 points, and Hamilton is at 343.5. The car, or "Constructor" standings, are going to be fun to watch. Red Bull (Honda) and Mercedes are now separated by just five points going into Qatar. with Mercedes in the lead, 546.5 to 541.5.
